LOTION 101

It's winter… Meaning my hands are extra dry, all the time. If you're like me, you're constantly putting lotion on your hands so the cracks don't start to bleed! Here are the main things you should look for when purchasing lotion...

 

 



 

Dimethicone helps seal cracks together for smoother hands, vitamin E helps trap moisture on the skin. You do NOT want any lotion that contains benzyl alcohol within the first 5 ingredients, it actually dries out your skin instead of moisturizing it. I've heard rumors that some companies put it into their lotions to make you use more lotion! (don't know how valid that is though…) However, benzyl alcohol does dry out skin so make sure to steeeeer clear of that!

I will always and forever be a fan of Vaseline lotion with Vitamin E and A.

Aveeno is great and has dimethicone as a skin protectant.
